The Princess of the Netherlands seems to value environmentally conscious dressing. Otherwise, she might not have chosen a fascinator by Fabienne Delvigne, which her mother, Queen Máxima, wore in 2015 at an event in Zoetermeer. However, instead of pairing it tone-on-tone like her mom did, she gave the headband a whole new look.
Máxima wore the beige fascinator with a beige ensemble: coat and blouse matched the striking headpiece. Amalia did it differently. Instead of opting for a neutral shade, she chose a fiery red. Fitting for the cheerful summer season, she wore a floor-length dress with ruffles. What’s the Story Behind the Second Detail?
On June 10 of this year, Catharina-Amalia had a riding accident: She fell off her horse and broke her upper arm, as reported by the “Schweizer Illustrierte” among others. She was operated on the same day in a clinic in Utrecht. She stayed in the hospital for a few days for observation. The annual summer family photo shoot had to be postponed.
Nevertheless, Crown Princess Amalia stood elegantly before the Hussar Regiment on June 18 and was photographed with her arm in a sling. She took it off while sitting down–unlike the fascinator! Amalia shows us as the Princess of the Netherlands that cross-generational fashion is anything but embarrassing and that we can create an impressive summer look even with a broken arm.
