In the new Vogue interview, the 28-year-old speaks for the first time about the birth, self-doubt, and how she has stayed true to herself.
Overview
Hailey Bieber Pushed to Her Limits During Birth
In August of last year, Hailey Bieber gave birth to her son Jack Blues–the Instagram video announcing her pregnancy went viral. Until now, she has kept her family life largely private and consistently protects her son from the public eye. However, she now graces the coveted cover of the U.S. Vogue and speaks openly about the birth for the first time.
“The birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” says Hailey Bieber. It took a full 18 hours for her son to be born–but it wasn’t over yet. Shortly after delivery, she continued to lose large amounts of blood, which particularly worried her since she had already suffered an unexpected mini-stroke in 2022. Despite this dramatic experience, Hailey emphasizes how important it is for her to speak honestly about the reality of childbirth–because the idealized notion often doesn’t match reality.
“You Are No Longer the Person You Were Before”
Even after the birth, the “Rhode” founder faced several challenges. The physical changes from pregnancy occupied her for a long time. She often consciously scrolled through hate comments. Only through a combination of therapy, healthy eating, and targeted training did Hailey slowly find herself again–despite having a body that is no longer the same. Because motherhood has changed her entire life, she says: “You are no longer the person you were before.”

No More Room for Hate Comments
Her attitude toward the constant comments about herself and her relationship has also changed. While she used to take many of the hate messages to heart, Hailey now tries not to let them affect her–she focuses on her real life and family, reflects, and allows herself to communicate her personal boundaries. Her husband Justin also chimes in via email, stating clearly: “I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my life, but the smartest thing I ever did was marry Hailey.”
Recently, he posted the “Vogue” cover with Hailey proudly–the original caption, in which he apologized for saying in a fight that she would never make it onto such a cover, has since been replaced with emojis.
