In an interview, Inka Bause discussed the sad reason behind her iconic spiky hairstyle. Decades ago, she parted with her long mane to escape power plays in the media industry.
Inka Bause is known not only for her lively alliterations but also for her hairstyle, which can definitely be described as quirky and sassy. For decades, the fashionable host has been recognized by her shaggy short haircut, but at the start of her career, she actually sported a breezy long hairstyle. In a new interview with “Super TV,” she discussed why she once opted for short hair and has remained loyal to this style ever since.
Inka Bause’s Former Hairstyle and Look
Her hairstyle has been a trademark of Inka Bause for years. Shaggy cut, cheekily styled, sometimes with more highlights and sometimes without. Before Inka became one of the most well-known hosts on German television, she was active as a singer. In the mid-1980s, she won a competition for up-and-coming female singers and subsequently released several singles and albums. At that time, she wore a trendy blow-dried hairstyle with plenty of volume, as was typical in the ’80s. Her look back then: form-fitting dresses, short cycling shorts, and colorful overalls.

“I Came Home and Cried Like a Baby”
For a long time, she stuck to her look, but Inka Bause repeatedly faced negative experiences with sexism in the media industry. “I regularly came home and cried like a baby; I think that’s also why I cut my hair,” she reports in the interview with “Super TV.”
Inka Bause blamed her hairstyle for the inappropriate behavior of some male colleagues and recalls, “Because it always came down to the same thing with the producers, and when I told them nothing was going to happen, I didn’t get the job.” The host couldn’t understand why other female colleagues still worked with these producers.

Inka Bause on Botox
The hairstyle has remained over the decades and has become a true trademark of the down-to-earth blonde. However, where she does make changes is her face. She recently spoke openly about Botox: “I’m not one of those people who will tell you they exercise, drink water, and eat salad,” she explained on the podcast “Chefsache with Oliver Dunk.”
And she continued: “You should use a few tricks if you’re not feeling well. Then I thought: If it helps so many people, I’ll let it help me too.” After extensive research, the host decided on a Botox treatment on her forehead and has been getting it refreshed regularly since then.
