Wide-leg pants have become a major sales hit in recent seasons. However, many women hesitate to try them, fearing they might look unflattering. But that doesn’t have to be the case with these simple tricks.
Looks like a skirt, but it’s actually pants: Very wide-leg pants are currently all the rage. Whether on the street or in shops, wide-leg pants are everywhere. But who can wear these pants, and how should they be styled?
Who can wear wide-leg pants?
Anyone! However, it’s important to find a wide-leg pant style that flatters your figure. Wider thighs can be well concealed by the wide legs. The high waist makes the legs appear longer, but also shortens the torso. Women with curves should opt for a slim blouse, shirt, or top. Slim women can choose the all-over oversized look.

The fabric of the wide-leg pants is also crucial. Flowing fabrics drape more and make the leg appear slimmer. And high heels add a bit more height. Also great: a two-piece set. Wearing one color over the entire outer body contour has an elongating effect.
Types of wide-leg pants
The palazzo pant is a model with an extremely wide A-line leg. The Marlene pant features a high waist and a tie belt. Culottes, a cropped pant with a wide leg, remain popular. New for winter: velvet pants, which are often baggy at the thighs but taper downward. Also available are straight-cut pants with moderately wide legs in a sporty look, with a side stripe, resembling nylon jogging pants. Also making a comeback: baggy jeans.

How to style wide-leg pants
The most elegant look is achieved with a slim-fitting top, such as a blouse or a tight turtleneck. Tops should generally be tucked in to highlight the waist as the narrowest point. If a looser top is chosen, it should be short.
And for footwear? To create the illusion of endless legs, opt for high shoes. These can be classic pumps, boots with a tight shaft, or platform wedges. Sneakers or loafers are also a comfortable alternative for everyday wear. Particularly chunky models pair well with wide-leg pants.
